Four players score in double figures for NC State
RALEIGH, NC – The NC State men's basketball team had four players score in double figures as the Pack ran away from Miami in the second half to win, 80-63.
With the win, NC State improves to 12-5, 3-3 in the ACC while Miami falls to 10-6, 2-4 ACC.
NC State had its best shooting half of the season in the second half, shooting 64.3 percent from the field to pull away for the win.
The Pack's lead was eight at the break and Miami hung around for the first five minutes of the half, cutting NC State's lead to five, 43-38, on three DJ Vasilijevic free throws with 15:00 to go in the game.
NC State responded with a 9-2 run over the next three minutes to take firm control of the game.
The Hurricanes would never get within single digits again as the Pack's lead ballooned to as high as 20 points in the final minutes.
D.J. Funderburk led the Pack with 19 points and eight rebounds. It's the fourth time in the last five games Funderburk has led the team in scoring.
Devon Daniels added 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting while Jericole Hellems finished 11 points.
Markell Johnson had 10 points and tied his career-high with four steals.
In his first action since December 22 against The Citadel, C.J. Bryce came off-the-bench to score six points and pass out a team-high five assists in 21 minutes of action.
The Pack tied its season-best with seven blocked shots and added nine steals as it forced Miami into a 36.4 percent shooting performance. The Hurricanes finished with just three assists in the game against 15 turnovers.
NC State returns to action Saturday at 2 p.m. when it hosts Clemson (9-7, 3-3 ACC) at 2 p.m. inside PNC Arena.
