Three Homer in Fall Game Against Longwood

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State softball team continued its fall slate of games Sunday afternoon with a 10 inning matchup against Longwood. The pair of teams finished with a 7-7 draw as NC State combined for 34 runs over the weekend in its two games.
Sam Russ and Logan Morris both tallied two hits for the Wolfpack while Russ and Carson Shaner each scored a pair of runs. The NC State pitchers, Sam Gress and Devin Wallace, combined for seven strikeouts.
Longwood struck first with four runs in the second and third innings, taking a 4-0 lead. NC State began chipping away with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Shaner led off the inning with a walk before eventually scoring on a fly out, ground out and error.
It was a two-run sixth inning for the Pack thanks to April Visser's homer. NC State took a 6-4 lead with two outs in the seventh, following back-to-back home runs from Angie Rizzi and Shaner.
Longwood took back the lead, 7-6, with three runs in the eighth and ninth innings. After a lead off out in the 10th, Russ tied turned her single into a run. A walk and two consecutive hit by pitches allowed the game tying run to score.
