Rogers Posts Perfect Day, Reami Earns Top-25 Win on First Day at USTA Fall Ranked Spotlight

ORLANDO, Fla. – Senior Anna Rogers posted a perfect record (3-0) and fellow senior Adriana Reami earned a top-25 win over No. 23 McCartney Kessler (Florida), the highest-ranked singles victory of her career, on the first day of competition at the USTA Fall Ranked Spotlight.
The top-ranked doubles duo, Rogers and Alana Smith, opened its season with an impressive 6-2 victory over Tennessee's No. 24 Katilin Staines and Tenika McGiffin.
Eighth-ranked Rogers collected two singles wins and one doubles win. The Stamford, Conn., native took down both singles opponents in straight sets to advance to Saturday's quarterfinal.
Rogers and No. 59 Jaeda Daniel advanced to the round of 16 in the early round of singles matches Friday morning, while No. 40 Smith and Reami entered the back draw. NC State was one of five teams to be represented by multiple players in the main draw's round of 16.
Smith emerged out of the back draw thanks to a three-set victory (6-4, 2-6, 6-0) to round out her first day at the tournament.
