GREENVILLE, S.C. – The NC State volleyball team closes out its non-conference schedule Sunday with a matchup against Furman at 2 p.m. The Wolfpack travel to Greenville to face Furman for the first time since 1992. The match will be broadcast on the SoCon Digital Network.
Â
NC State (4-7) has a quick turnaround following a pair of matches against SEC opponents, Georgia and Arkansas. The Pack dropped a 3-1 match to the Bulldogs before falling short in a comeback bid to Arkansas, 3-2. Lauryn Terry dominated at the net on the weekend, totaling 20 blocks, including 14 against Georgia. Terry's 14 blocks tied a program single-match record and are the most for NC State in the rally scoring era. The mark ties an NCAA best this season with North Dakota's Lydia Rutten.
Â
Evans continued her stellar season, adding two more double-digit kill matches to her resume, making her season total 10. The junior opposite hitter has now tallied 10 or more kills in all but one match this season, including two 20+ kill performances. Evans leads the team with 3.89 kills per set, which also ranks third in the ACC. Kaylee Frazier continues to lead the defense ranking second in the ACC with 4.73 digs per set.Â
Â
Furman (0-10) is still looking for its first win of the season after losing a pair of weekend matches to Winthrop and Appalachian State. The Paladins have taken on two ACC teams this season, Virginia and Wake Forest but open the home portion of their 2019 schedule on Sunday. Furman is led by junior Nicole Mack who has a team-high 90 kills.
Â
Following Sunday's match, the Wolfpack turn its attention to Atlantic Coast Conference play, opening the conference slate on the road. NC State travels to Louisville Friday, Sept. 27 before taking on Notre Dame Sunday, Sept. 29.
