RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's and women's swimming and diving programs will be well-represented at the 2019 World University Games. Head coach Braden Holloway and eight Wolfpack swimmers will make the journey to Naples, Italy to participate in the event, with the seven-day swimming competition set to run from July 4-10 at the Piscina Scandone.
Holloway will be the men's head coach for USA Swimming's squad, marking his second time serving as a coach on the World University Games staff after he served as an assistant in 2017.
Elise Haan, Ky-lee Perry, Justin Ress, Makayla Sargent and Coleman Stewart will represent the Wolfpack as part of a 52-member squad of swimmers who will be competing on the United States roster. Alumna Hannah Moore was also selected for the roster but will be training for competition at the upcoming World Championships.
NC State's six team selections were the most between combined programs out of the 17 schools represented on the roster, highlighted by 2018-19 USA Swimming National Team members Haan, Moore and Ress. The four Wolfpack women were the most by any of the collegiate women's programs that are sending student-athletes to the meet.
In addition, Gil Kiesler (Israel) and Giovanni Izzo (Italy) will be in attendance at the World University Games to represent their respective nations. Incoming NC State freshman Katharine Berkoff will also be competing as a member of Team USA's roster.
