Maggie Tamburro Earns CoSIDA Academic All-American Status

AUSTIN, Texas – Senior Maggie Tamburro of the NC State gymnastics team has been named a 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-American, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Friday.

Tamburro—who boasts a perfect 4.00 GPA in Biomedical Engineering—earned Second Team At-Large honors. She is one of just 45 female student-athletes in NCAA Division I to earn First, Second, or Third Team status for the 2018-19 season. The at-large teams for the Google Cloud Academic All-America program include the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming & diving, tennis, and water polo.

The Hummelstown, Pa., native was named the 2019 EAGL Scholar-Athlete of the Year and earned All-EAGL Scholastic Team honors during all four of her seasons with the Wolfpack. She also served as president of NC State's SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee).

A two-time All-EAGL First Team selection on bars, Tamburro competed in every meet of the 2019 season and collected seven podium finishes and three bars titles, more than her previous three seasons combined.
