Crosby, Rivers Named to CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District Teams

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State track and field seniors Nell Crosby and Grant Rivers were honored as members of the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Teams, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) organization on Tuesday.
Crosby and Rivers are two of a total of 10 women and 11 men who were named First Team honorees from District 3, which includes NCAA Division I schools from North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. The honors mark the first for the programs since the 2016 season when a pair of Wolfpack student-athletes from the track and field and cross country squads were named to the Academic All-District Teams.
Crosby, who boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA as a physiology major, was honored as a member of the Academic All-District Team for the first time in her career. She adds to her list of academic awards as the Colorado Springs, Colo. native was also named to the 2018 All-ACC Cross Country Team and is a two-time USTFCCCA Academic All-American.
After joining the Wolfpack roster prior to the start of the 2018-19 athletic year, Crosby put together a solid senior campaign as a member of NC State's cross country and track and field teams. She competed for the Pack in all five meets during the 2018 cross country campaign, capped off by All-ACC honors in her first-ever ACC Championships meet where she placed 10th. Crosby also became an All-Region honoree during the 2018 cross country season with a top-20 finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional.
Crosby recently qualified for the NCAA Championships after placing 11th in the women's 3000m steeplechase at the NCAA East Preliminary with the third-fastest time in school history (10:08.54).
Rivers, the 2019 ACC Indoor Track and Field Heptathlon Champion, earned his first appointment to the Academic All-District Team. The Hendersonville, N.C. native is a three-time all-conference performer and set the NC State indoor heptathlon record with 5,177 pts.
A 2019 All-ACC Academic Men's Indoor Track and Field Team selection, Rivers boasted a 3.89 GPA in his Master's program, studying communication science (rhetorical theory) after earning his B.A. in communication. An Arthur Ashe National Runner-Up, Rivers is a published co-author of the book 'Reimagining Communication.'
Both Crosby and Rivers will be eligible for consideration for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
