Wolfpack Evens Series With Tar Heels, Reaches 40-Win Plateau

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 13 NC State baseball reached the 40-win plateau for the 10th time under head coach Elliott Avent on Friday evening in its 11-2 win over UNC-Chapel Hill at Boshamer Stadium in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Highlighted by three-run bursts in the first, fourth and sixth innings, Wolfpack evens its series with the 13th-ranked Tar Heels. The Pack improves to 40-15 on the year and 17-12 in ACC play while the Tar Heels fall to 38-16 overall and 17-12 in conference action.
Avent's Additions
"I've never been more proud of my guys," said Avent. "We didn't give that game away yesterday, but a couple of unfortunate things happened late, and you never have a 3-2 game with a good ball club like Carolina. This was the response we wanted and needed, and I'm really proud of them."
Quick Hits
-The Pack jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first on four hits. Jonny Butler and Will Wilson laced back-to-back singles to start the game, then with two gone Tyler McDonough stepped up and ripped an RBI single to right field to score Butler.
-An error on the play moved him to second and brought Wilson around to make it 2-0.
-Brad Debo tacked on the third run with his RBI single to center field to drive in McDonough.

-A bases-loaded wild pitch in the seventh made it 11-1.
