
Wolfpack Suffers Setback at Georgia Tech

ATLANTA, Ga. – The No. 21 NC State men's tennis team opened its final weekend of road matches at No. 49 Georgia Tech Friday evening, falling to the Yellow Jackets by a 4-0 score.
With the loss, the Wolfpack falls to 14-9 (5-4 ACC) on the season, and the Yellow Jackets improve to 9-9 (4-5 ACC).
NC State played a solid doubles point but was unable to clinch as Georgia Tech took wins on courts three and one. Seniors Igor Saveljic and Ivan Saveljic swung a 6-4 victory over Cole Gromley and Zummy Bauer after facing an early two-game deficit for NC State's only doubles win of the day.
The Yellow Jackets went on to win three singles courts to clinch the match. Gromley led off with a 6-4, 6-1 over NC State senior Georgiy Malyshev, and No. 62 Carlos Divar put Georgia Tech a match away from the clinch with a 7-6 (5), 7-5 win over 22nd-ranked Alexis Galarneau.
The deciding win came from Georgia Tech's Pablo Schelcher, as he defeated Robert Turzak in a 6-4, 7-6 (4) decision.
UP NEXT:
The Wolfpack will make the trip to Clemson to take on the Tigers at 11 a.m. on Sunday before closing out its road stint at Duke on Wednesday, April 10.
