Wolfpack Falls at 11th-Ranked UNC-Chapel Hill

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The No. 21 NC State men's tennis team dropped a tough match to 11th-ranked UNC-Chapel Hill as it fell to the Tar Heels, 4-0, Wednesday evening at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. With the loss, the Wolfpack moves to 14-8 (5-3 ACC), and the Tar Heels improve to 14-4 (6-2 ACC).
The Pack battled in doubles play, taking two of three matches to tiebreakers, but the Tar Heels picked up wins on courts one and three to claim the doubles point.
UNC-CH took four first sets to open singles play. NC State fought hard in its second sets but ultimately was unable to overcome its early deficits.
Blaine Boyden was the first player to add to UNC-Chapel Hill's tally in singles with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Robert Turzak.
On court three, Igor was unable to win a game in his first set but went on to force a tiebreaker in the second set. Brian Cernoch won that match 6-0, 7-6 (4).
No. 22 Alexis Galarneau took on No. 29 William Blumberg in a top-30 matchup on the top court. The Wolfpack junior fought, but Blumberg ultimately took the match by a 6-3, 7-5 score to clinch for the Tar Heels.

The Wolfpack continues its road stint this weekend with a pair of ACC matches as it takes on Georgia Tech on Friday and Clemson on Sunday.
