
Play Suspended at Stitch Intercollegiate with Pack in Fourth Place

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State men's golf team was making a charge in the second round of the Stitch Intercollegiate before play was suspended at the tournament because of approaching weather at the event held at MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary, N.C.
NC State had shot a tournament-best seven-under par in the second round and was just two shots out of second place when the round was called. The second round will resume at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The third round has been cancelled.
NC State senior Stephen Franken is tied for second on the individual leaderboard with a score of five-under par. The Raleigh native shot a three-under par 69 in the first round was two-under in the second round when play was halted.
Easton Paxton is next for the Pack in a tie for 13th place. Paxton shot a one-under par 71 in the first round and was even through 10 holes in the second round.
Harrison Rhoades and Benjamin Shipp are tied for 24th place. Rhoades shot a two-over par 74 in the first round, but had shot one-under par in the second round before play was stopped. Shipp rebounded from a first round 77 to shoot four-under par in the second round with seven holes still to play. Shipp is currently shooting the best second round score of the tournament.
Justin Hood rounds out the NC State lineup in a tie for 62nd place. Hood shot a 78 in the first round and was even-par in the second round.
Playing as an individual, Nolan Mills Jr., is tied for 39th place at three-over par for the tournament. Mills registered an even-par 72 in the first round. Thomas Deal is in a tie for 62nd place with Hood at six-over par for the tournament. Deal is currently shooting two-under par in the second round when play was halted. Davis Richards is tied for 78th on the leaderboard.
