Pack Wins Third Straight Match with 4-1 Victory Over Seminoles

NC State defeats Florida State for first time since 2013
RALEIGH, N.C. – The 23rd-ranked NC State men's tennis team extended its winning streak to three matches and picked up its first win over Florida State since 2013 as it defeated the No. 26 Seminoles, 4-1, Friday evening at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
With the win, NC State improves to 14-7 (5-2 ACC) while the Seminoles drop to 14-6 (4-3 ACC). It marks the Pack's best start to ACC action since the 2013 season, when it also picked up five wins in its first seven conference matches. The victory was the Pack's second in a row over a ranked ACC opponent.

MATCH RECAP:
The Pack faced another competitive doubles fight but battled to wins on a pair of courts to pick up the doubles point for the sixth straight ACC match.
Georgiy Malyshev and Tadas Babelis jumped out to an early lead on the third court on the way to defeating Florida State's Richard Thongoana and Chase Wood by a 6-4 score.
The Seminoles picked up a close doubles victory in a tiebreaker on court one where neither team managed to break serve in the match. Florida State's Alex Knaff and Sebastian Arcila emerged victorious over No. 57 Alexis Galarneau and Michael Ogden, winning by a 7-6 (?) score to force the doubles decision to the last court.
Igor Saveljic and Ivan Saveljic earned a timely break to go up a game at 6-5. The Wolfpack duo held on deciding point to seal the 7-5 win over Lucas Poullain and Bryn Nahrung.
In singles play, NC State split the first sets across the six courts but went on to win three of the first four matches that were completed.
Robert Turzak was the first member of the Wolfpack to victory as he defeated Wood in a solid 6-2, 6-3 decision.
Yannai Barkai put NC State a match away from the clinch with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Thongoana.
Malyshev came back from a set down to clinch for the Pack, securing the 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Enzo Le Seguillon.
UP NEXT:
NC State hits the road for four straight ACC matches, beginning with a trip to UNC-Chapel Hill on Wednesday, April 3. That match is set for a 4 p.m. start at the Cone Kenfield Tennis Center.
