Three Wolfpack players record double-doubles in victory over Wildcats

RALEIGH – For the second consecutive season and the 13th time in program history, the 10th-ranked and third-seeded NC State women's basketball team (28-5) is headed to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. NC State defeated 17th-ranked and sixth-seeded Kentucky (25-8) by a final score of 72-57 on Monday evening on Kay Yow Court inside Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum.
Despite a close margin that primarily remained in the single digits until midway through the fourth quarter, NC State led for a commanding 36:35 and only trailed the Wildcats for 1:57. The Wolfpack got off to a blistering start, shooting 10-of-18 (.556) from the field in the first quarter en route to taking a 25-17 lead through 10 minutes. After a DD Rogers layup made it 5-5 with 7:09 remaining in the first quarter, the Wolfpack would not trail once the rest of the way.
Kiara Leslie (26 points and 10 rebounds) led three Wolfpack players with double-doubles. Freshman center Elissa Cunane (13 points and 15 rebounds) and senior forward DD Rogers (11 points and 11 rebounds) also had outstanding performances in the win. Sophomore Kai Crutchfield scored 11 points on clutch 3-of-4 shooting from the field and tied for the game-high six assists with Cunane, while junior guard Aislinn Konig scored eight points and pulled down four rebounds.
Kentucky's SEC Freshman of the Year Rhyne Howard led her team offensively with 21 points on 8-of-21 shooting. She was joined in double figures by 18 points from Maci Morris, who is a finalist for the 2019 Ann Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard of the Year Award.

-NC State now leads the series with Kentucky 4-2.
-The Wolfpack is now 24-24 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, 16-2 in NCAA Tournament games played in Raleigh, and will be making consecutive Sweet 16 appearances for the first time since 1990 and 1991.
-NC State has won 29 consecutive non-conference games in Raleigh and is 47-6 at home since the renovation of Reynolds Coliseum.
-Konig made two three-pointers to move to 91 on the season, tying the program record that she set last year.
-NC State is 24-1 when holding its opponent to shooting .400 or lower from the field.
