Wolfpack Women Wrap Up Season at 2019 NCAA Championships

AUSTIN – NC State's women will travel to Austin, Texas to conclude their 2018-19 campaigns at the 2019 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, which is set to run Wednesday through Saturday at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
ESPN will provide linear coverage fo Friday and Saturday finals on ESPNU, and Wednesday and Thursday finals will be covered digitally on ESPN3. All of the preliminary sessions will be streamed on texassports.com.
Admission is free for Wednesday evening's session, and standing room only tickets will be available at the door every other day. Tickets for the prelims cost $10 apiece, and tickets for the finals will be $15 each.
MEET NOTEBOOK:
A program-best 12 Wolfpack women qualified for the 2019 NCAA Championships, and all five of NC State's relays also posted times during the season that earned them spots at the national meet. A total of 14 women from NC State will make the trip to Austin to compete this week.
NC State's women have finished in the top 20 at the NCAA Championships five seasons in a row, including a program-best No. 7 national finish just two seasons ago at the 2017 NCAA Championships.
The Pack will look to win its first swimming national title on the women's side, as former diver Kristin Davies is the Wolfpack women's lone national champion after winning on platform in 2009.

2018-19 IN REVIEW:
The NC State women's swimming and diving program won its second conference championship in three years and its fourth overall conference title at the 2019 ACC Championships. The Pack came back to Raleigh with a total of 11 event titles from the conference meet, setting the program record for the most single-season conference titles. The 11 wins topped the previous mark of 10 titles won in 1980.
NC State collected a total of 20 podium finishes, with a program-record 12 different swimmers and divers medaling across those finishes to take home All-ACC honors this season.
The Pack entered its postseason with a 5-1 record in head-to-head matchups during the regular season, with its only loss coming at the hands of top-ranked Texas. NC State picked up wins over three opponents that were ranked at the time of competition, beating No. 22 Duke, No. 24 UNC-Chapel Hill and No. 5 Virginia.
The Wolfpack women were ranked in the top 11 of the CSCAA/TYR Top 25 for the entirety of the 2018-19 season and have been featured in the top nine in the last five national polls. The Pack tied its season-high ranking of No. 4 in the latest poll and enters the NCAA Championships as the highest-ranked ACC team.
NATIONAL SUCCESS UNDER HOLLOWAY:
Since Braden Holloway took over as head coach at the start of the 2011-12 season, the Wolfpack has enjoyed unparalleled success in the pool.
During the 2010-11 season, NC State did not score at the NCAA Championships. Since then, NC State's women have secured five straight top-20 finishes at the national meet, including a program-best No. 7 national finish in 2017.
2018 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS REWIND:
The Wolfpack women finished 18th at the 2018 NCAA Championships last season, with members of the squad earning All-America honors four times and All-America Honorable Mention honors five times over the course of the meet.
Senior Elise Haan and sophomore Tamila Holub both return to the Pack's roster for the national meet this season after securing top-eight finishes and All-American status in 2018. Haan took fourth place in the 100-yard backstroke in 2018, the highest finish in program history in the event, and Holub placed eighth in the 1650-yard freestyle last season.
TOP MARKS:
NC State enters the meet with 15 swims seeded in the top 16 on the official psych sheet and five swims seeded in the top eight in the nation.
Freshman Sophie Hansson's 57.74 100-yard breaststroke time stands at No. 2 in the nation, and she also owns a top-five seed in the 200-yard breaststroke where her 2:06.73 ranks fourth.
The Wolfpack heads into the 2019 NCAA Championships with four women's swimmers having qualified to compete in the 1650-yard freestyle. The Pack's four qualifiers in the event are the most in the nation from a single program. Two women are top-16 seeds as Holub (15:56.91) and Anna Jahns (15:56.96) have times that rank eighth and ninth, respectively.
NC State also saw four of its female swimmers invited to compete in the 400-yard individual medley. The Pack swept the podium in both the 400 IM and the 1650 free at the 2019 ACC Championships.
Hansson and Kate Moore were the two Wolfpack women who qualified for a team-best three individual events at the NCAA Championships.
