AUBURN, Ala. – The NC State divers wrapped up their 2018-19 campaigns Wednesday at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships as three members of the Wolfpack advanced to the platform finals on the last day of competition at the James E. Martin Aquatic Center.
FROM THE COACH:
"Unfortunately, fortune was not in our favor today," said head diving coach Yahya Radman. "It was a very tough day today against some tough competition, and we just fell short. We're going to take some time to reflect and some time to regroup. And then, we're going to attack next season with an even hungrier mindset."
MEET RECAP:
For the second night in a row, both of NC State's men reached the finals session, this time on platform. James Brady finished one spot away from qualifying for the national meet as he placed 10th in the finals with a 682.70. Holt Gray was also in action in the finals, where he finished 14th and posted a mark of 613.90.
Madeline Kline, who won the ACC title in her last outing on platform, put together another competitive outing in the event at the Zone Championships. She reached her second final in as many days where she finished just one spot out of an NCAA Championships qualifying berth as she placed seventh with a total score of 510.60.
In just her third time competing on tower as a member of the Wolfpack, freshman Taylor Bennett posted the best score of her career, a 190.20 that was good for 27th in the prelims.
The meet wraps up a solid season for the Wolfpack divers that was highlighted by Kline repeating as ACC champion on the platform and Brady claim All-ACC honors in the event. Kline, Brady, Gray and Bennett all scored points at the ACC Championships to help NC State to its sweep of the conference titles.
