TEMPE, Ariz. – The NC State men's tennis team made its return to the top 30 of the Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Tennis Rankings as it was tabbed No. 27 in the nation in the latest release of the poll.
The Pack has compiled a 10-5 overall record through the first two months of a season and has picked up key wins throughout a challenging 2019 slate. After upsetting No. 12 Georgia during the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in January, NC State added a ranked win to its résumé at home on March 4 as it swept No. 27 Penn for a 7-0 win.
NC State also cruised past Virginia Tech in its first ACC match of the season as it beat the Hokies 4-1 to kick off its conference slate. The team now heads into the bulk of conference play.
The Pack has been featured in every poll since it first jumped into the rankings on Jan. 30. NC State's only losses on the season are to teams that are currently ranked in the national top 25.
Junior Alexis Galarneau is currently No. 25 in the singles rankings, with the latest addition of those set to be released next week.
NC State returns to action this weekend as it hosts No. 3 Virginia and Louisville at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. The Pack welcomes the Cavaliers to Raleigh at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 15 and matches up against the Cardinals at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 17.
