WBCA Release
ATLANTA – Kiara Leslie of the ninth-ranked NC State women's basketball team (21-1, 8-1 ACC) has been added to the 2019 Wade Trophy Watch List, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-America Selection Committee announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Leslie is in the midst of her second strong season with the Wolfpack. The Holly Springs, N.C., native currently leads the team in scoring (15.4 points per game) and rebounding (7.7 rebounds per game) while shooting an impressive 124-286 (.434) from the field. In games against Atlantic Coast Conference opponents, Leslie is averaging 17.6 points per contest and has scored 12 points or more in eight consecutive games. She set a new career high of 31 points on 13-15 shooting in a win at Boston College on Jan. 6.
During NC State's Jan. 27 win at Georgia Tech, Leslie surpassed 1,000 career points. Of her current 1,048 points scored in 124 games played, 784 have come in the Red and White of NC State (57 games).

The Wade Trophy — now in its 42nd year — is the oldest and most prestigious national player of the year award in college women's basketball. It is named in honor of the late, legendary Delta State University head coach Lily Margaret Wade, who won three consecutive national championships with the Lady Statesmen. First awarded in 1978 by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD), now known as SHAPE America, the Wade Trophy has been presented to the WBCA NCAA Division I National Player of the Year since 2001.
The WBCA will announce the four finalists for the honor in mid-March. The winner of the 2019 Wade Trophy will be announced April 4 in Tampa Bay, Florida — site of the 2019 WBCA Convention and NCAA Women's Final Four.
