Pack Men Open ACC Championships with Record-Setting 200 Medley Relay Win

NC State resets own ACC, meet record from 2017 in the event
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wolfpack men opened action at the 2019 ACC Championships by taking first place in record time in the 200-yard medley relay Wednesday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
The Pack kicked off postseason swimming action by dropping over two seconds on the way to taking gold in the event for the fifth time in six years. Coleman Stewart, Daniel Graber, Nyls Korstanje and Justin Ress clocked in at 1:22.37 to set a new ACC, meet, pool and program record in the event.
Stewart led off with his fastest 50-yard backstroke split of the season, a 20.75 that put the Wolfpack in front early. Graber followed by going 23.27 on his breaststroke split, and Korstanje clocked a 19.81 butterfly split, both of those being the fastest splits in the respective strokes in program history. Ress anchored the relay with an 18.54 50-yard freestyle time to secure the win.
NC State also saw action in the 800-yard freestyle relay, where it took fourth place as Andreas Vazaios, Jacob Molacek, Noah Hensley and Ress touched the wall in 6:16.48.
NC State will continue action at the ACC Championships on Thursday, with the prelims scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and finals slated for 6 p.m. Thursday night's finals will be streamed live on the ACC Network Extra.
