RALEIGH, N.C. – The 29th-ranked NC State men's tennis team picked up a pair of home wins on Sunday to improve to 9-3 on the season. The Wolfpack defeated Virginia Tech 4-1 in its first ACC match of the season and went on to beat North Carolina Central with a 4-0 score at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
"I'm really proud of the guys," said head coach Kyle Spencer. "Virginia Tech gave us a good fight. They played a great doubles point, but we had four guys who came out during singles and were really on point mentally, physically and tactically. Tadas (Babelis) put together a clean match against a really tricky opponent. Alexis (Galarneau) continues to be a rock at the top for us, and Igor (Saveljic) was able to close out a match playing a guy who was serving fantastically. Moving forward, we've got a good week of practice ahead and prepare for a top 25 team in Penn. I'm excited for where the program is going, for where the guys are going. I feel like we're improving all the time."
