No. 17 Rifle Set for 2019 GARC Championships at Akron

Wolfpack makes first trip of the season to Akron
RALEIGH, N.C. - The 17th-ranked NC State rifle team will head to Ohio this weekend for the 2019 Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) Championships. Akron will host the event Feb. 22-23 at the Stile Athletics Field House.

Admission for the championships is FREE.

The smallbore portion of the event is slated to get underway at 7:45 a.m. Friday, while the first relay of air rifle will begin Saturday at the same time. Smallbore finals will be held at 3:45 p.m. Friday, while air rifle finals commence at 2:45 p.m. Saturday.

NC State will be joined at the championships by the top-ranked West Virginia, No. 4 Kentucky, No. 7 Navy, No. 8 Ole Miss, No. 9 Memphis, No. 11 Nebraska, No. 12 Army and No. 14 Akron. Â

In its most recent outing, NC State struggled at the NCAA Qualifier Match, firing a team score of 4617.

Last season, the Wolfpack finished sixth at the championships. NC State turned in its best finish at the championships in 2016 with a third-place finish.

The Wolfpack will be looking to have its best performance of the season at the championships, as the Pack has tallied strong days in air rifle and strong days in smallbore but hopes to put together stellar performances in both guns.
