NC State to Host Three Weekend Matches

Wolfpack hosts No. 26 Tennessee Friday afternoon, Virginia Tech and North Carolina Central Sunday
RALEIGH, N.C. – The 29th-ranked NC State men's tennis team will welcome a solid slate of opponents to the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center as it hosts three matches over the weekend. The Wolfpack (7-2) is set for its first ranked matchup at home this season as it hosts No. 26 Tennessee Friday at 3 p.m. NC State will then turn around to open ACC action against Virginia Tech on Sunday at 1 p.m. and will host North Carolina Central on Sunday at 5 p.m.
MATCH PROMOTIONS:
Admission to all home matches is free. Fans who plan on attending Friday's match against Tennessee will need to obtain a virtual event permit to park in the West Deck or West Lot. A link to this free parking pass can be found here.

Tennessee (Friday, Feb. 22 – 3 p.m.)
Virginia Tech (Sunday, Feb. 24 – 1 p.m.)
North Carolina Central (Sunday, Feb. 24 – 5 p.m.)
LAST TIME OUT:
The Pack secured its second straight win over Old Dominion last Sunday as it defeated the visiting Monarchs by a 6-1 score. The doubles decision came down to the final court, where Igor Saveljic and Ivan Saveljic battled back from a two-game deficit to ultimately win 7-5 to secure the doubles point.
NC State went on to win five of six singles matches to secure its seventh team victory of the season.
PACK IN THE POLL:
NC State maintained a spot in the top 30 of the Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Rankings as it checked in at No. 29 in the latest release of the poll.
Alexis Galarneau remained the Pack's only ranked singles player as he moved up two spots to No. 43. The Wolfpack junior picked up his second ranked win of the season in NC State's match against Old Dominion as he came from behind to defeat No. 93 Aziz Kijametovic in three sets.
SCOUTING THE VOLUNTEERS:
Tennessee and NC State last met during the 2018 season in Knoxville in a top-25 matchup that the Pack won by a 4-3 score. The decision came down to the final singles court, where Tadas Babelis defeated defeated Adam Walton in three sets to clinch for the Wolfpack.
The Volunteers are 6-1 headed into Friday's match and most recently took down Duke by a 4-0 score. Two Vols are ranked in singles, with Walton checking in at No. 94 and Timo Stodder tabbed at No. 113.
SCOUTING THE HOKIES:
NC State has picked up wins in back-to-back matchups with the Hokies after beating them in the 2017 ACC Tournament and winning during the teams' regular-season meeting in 2018.
Virginia Tech is 6-2 on the season and will host a doubleheader before facing the Pack on Sunday.
Despite not being ranked as a team, two Hokies singles players and a pair of Virginia Tech duos are ranked in the national standings. Henrik Korsgaard and Alex Ribeiro pair up to form the nation's No. 25 pair, and Carlo Donato and Mitch Harper are ranked 47th. Harper is also ranked in the top 50 in singles at No. 41, and Jason Kros checks in at No. 58.

North Carolina Central enters the weekend with an 0-2 record and plays a match at UNC-Asheville on Saturday before coming to Raleigh on Sunday.
NC State leads the series 3-0 and has won all three meetings between the squads by a 7-0 score. Sunday will mark the first meeting between the programs since 2015.

After the weekend's matches, NC State will host the final contest of its nine-match home stretch as it welcomes Pennsylvania to Raleigh on Monday, March 4. First serve is slated for 4 p.m. from the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
