Guttenberger, King Pick Up Weekly Awards

RALEIGH – Redshirt sophomore defender Lulu Guttenberger and senior midfielder Tziarra King of the NC State women's soccer team picked up weekly awards on Tuesday, as Guttenberger was tabbed ACC Defensive Player of the Week and King earned TopDrawerSoccer Player Of The Week honors.
Both were essential in the Wolfpack's back-to-back wins at No. 14 Louisville last week. The squad defeated the Cardinals, 1-0, on Oct. 31 in the regular season finale to earn its third ACC Championship berth in the past four years, then secured a 2-1 overtime win in the quarterfinal matchup on Nov. 3 to advance to the semifinals for the second time in three years.
King assisted Anna Toohey in what proved to be the game-winning goal in the first contest, and was responsible for the golden goal in the quarterfinal win. She leads the conference with 32 points and is second overall with 13 goals. King additionally ranks third all-time at NC State with 115 points and 48 goals in her career.
Guttenberger played a vital role as a part of the back line in the team's regular season shutout win. In the quarterfinal, she curled in a corner kick that produced an own goal, and forced a turnover on a Louisville corner kick which led to King's golden goal in the 2-1 overtime victory.
NC State is back in action Friday when it faces top-seeded North Carolina in the ACC Championship semifinal at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m., and the match will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
