RALEIGH – The NC State baseball team will play a 14-inning fall scrimmage at UNCW Sunday, its second of the semester. First pitch is 12 p.m. at Brooks Field in Wilmington, N.C., and admission is FREE.
This is the second year the NCAA is allowing Division I baseball teams to play two scrimmages against outside competition.
In its first fall scrimmage against South Carolina in Raleigh on Sept. 29, the Wolfpack won 15-5 (12 inn.), highlighted by a combined four home runs by Tyler McDonough, Jose Torres and Luca Tresh (2). Torres was a double short of hitting for the cycle.
NC State and UNCW met twice in the 2019 season, and the Pack won both contests. It defeated the Seahawks, 14-7, on April 16 at Brooks Field, and 11-3 on April 30 at Doak Field.
UNCW finished 32-31 last season and won the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship, its sixth in program history, and earned an automatic NCAA Regional bid.
