RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's and women's cross country teams are set to open postseason competition on Friday at the 2019 ACC Championships. The conference meet will be hosted by Virginia Tech at the Buford Meredith Cross Country Course in Blacksburg, Va.

The 2019 ACC Cross Country Championships will open with the men's 8K final at 10 a.m. The women's 6K championship will follow at 11 a.m. Admission to the meet is free.
Both races will be broadcast live on ACCNX, and the trophy ceremony will take place immediately following the conclusion of the women's race.
2018 ACC REWIND:
The Wolfpack women are the three-time defending conference champions after they picked up another team title at the 2018 ACC Championships. The team edged out Notre Dame by one point to claim the program's third-straight and 24th overall ACC trophy.
NC State saw three of its women finish inside the top 10, led by Wolfpack All-American Elly Henes. Henes was individual runner-up in 2018 as she crossed the finish line in 20:16.3 behind Louisville's Dorcas Wasike. Henes, Dominique Clairmonte and Nell Crosby garnered All-ACC status at the meet.
The Pack men took third at last season's ACC Championships, marking the squad's fourth-straight time finishing among the top three teams.
All of NC State's All-ACC performers on the men's side were first-time honorees. Ian Shanklin, Edwin Rutto, Elijah Moskowitz and Gavin Gaynor all claimed the nod for finishing inside the top 18.
TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE:
Over the years, NC State has proved itself as the most dominant program at ACC Championships since the establishment of the conference meet.
Under the leadership of head coaches Rollie Geiger and Laurie Henes, NC State's men and women lead the ACC having won a combined 38 ACC titles since Geiger won his first conference title with the women in 1979.
The Wolfpack women's count of 24 ACC team titles dominates the conference. The next closest program in terms of number of team titles is Florida State, which has won just six in its program history.
On the men's side, 15 of the Pack's 16 conference titles have been claimed with Geiger at the helm of the program.
NC State's 115 All-ACC selections on the men's side and 104 honorees on the women's side are both all-time league leaders. The women also own the ACC record for the most consecutive titles after winning seven in a row from 1987 to 1993.
PACK IN THE POLLS:
Both NC State squads remain nationally ranked headed into the postseason. Neither team has fallen outside of the national top 30 during the 2019 campaign.
After an impressive third-place finish at the Nuttycombe Invitational, the Wolfpack women bumped up two spots in the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll to check in at No. 6. NC State finished third overall in a matchup against some of the nation's best on its way to earning a season-high national ranking.
NC State's men are tied for 23rd in the nation with fellow ACC program Virginia.
The Pack is one of four programs in the ACC to have both its men's and women's teams ranked headed into the conference meet. The Wolfpack has remained the highest-ranked squad on the women's side for the entirety of the 2019 season.
UP NEXT:
The Pack's postseason will continue after the ACC Championships as the teams prepare for the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships on Nov. 15. The regional meet will be hosted by Virginia at Panorama Farms in Charlottesville, Va.
