RALEIGH -- The NC State women's gymnastics team has released its 2019-20 schedule, as announced by head coach Kim Landrus. Featuring eight 2019 NCAA Regional qualifiers, the team will compete in 11 meets prior to the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championship and postseason competition.
Â
The Wolfpack plays host to five regular-season home meets, highlighted by the team finale at Valvano Arena inside Reynolds Coliseum against Minnesota, who finished the 2019 season ranked No. 13 nationally.
Â
"2020 will be another exciting year both in Reynolds Coliseum and on the road," said Landrus. "Starting off the season with Big Ten and SEC opponents will be great for this year's squad. Both meets will showcase eye-catching gymnastics and will be valuable experience for us early on. Our home schedule features meets you won't want to miss, including a dual meet against conference rival UNC and Senior Night against last year's 13th-ranked Minnesota."
Â
Â
Fans can get their first look at the NC State team on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. for the team's annual Red & White Exhibition.
Â
Kicking off the 2020 season, the Pack travels to Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, Jan. 11 to take on 2019 regional qualifier Ohio State, beginning a two-meet road stint that concludes at Kentucky with UNC and Lindenwood on Friday, Jan. 17. Kentucky and Lindenwood qualified for NCAA Regional competition last season. The Wildcats also advanced to the regional final in 2019.
Â
The squad opens its home slate with two EAGL meets as the Pack plays host to Towson on Saturday, Jan. 25 and UNC on Saturday, Feb. 1.
Â
On Saturday, Feb. 8, NC State travels to Pittsburgh for another EAGL matchup before returning home for two meets. Â Valvano Arena inside Reynolds Coliseum entertains 2019 EAGL Champion and NCAA Regional qualifier New Hampshire and UNC on Saturday, Feb. 15, and William & Mary and Centenary on Friday, Feb. 21.
Â
The Pack heads north to the nation's capital for a meet hosted by George Washington, a 2019 NCAA Regional qualifier, with Northern Illinois and Temple on Sunday, Feb. 23 before heading to State College, Pa., for a quad-meet hosted by 2019 regional qualifier Penn State with Cornell and Towson.
Â
NC State concludes its 2020 home season with Minnesota, a team that reached the 2019 NCAA Regional Final.
Â
In its final meet before postseason competition, NC State competes at Maryland with UNC, New Hampshire and George Washington. The meet features three opponents that qualified for NCAA Regionals last season.
Â
The Pack will compete for its seventh EAGL Championship at nearby Chapel Hill, N.C., on Saturday, March 21. If the Wolfpack is selected, it will compete at the NCAA Regional Tournament April 2-4 at a site to be announced. Should NC State place in the top two at the end of NCAA Regionals, it would advance to the NCAA National Championships in Fort Worth, Texas.
