Turner Helps Nationals To First-Ever World Series Berth

WASHINGTON - Former #Pack9 standout Trea Turner (2012-14) and the Washington Nationals are headed to the World Series after its 4-0 sweep in a seven-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals. It is the first World Series appearance in franchise history for the Nationals.

The Nationals won games one and two, 2-0 and 3-1, respectively, in St. Louis, dominated game three in an 8-1 result and held off the Cardinals, 7-4, in game four in Washington.

Turner is the eighth player from the Wolfpack baseball program to reach the World Series, and the first since Tracy Woodson with the 1988 Los Angeles Dodgers to accomplish the feat.

So far in the postseason, Turner has started all 10 games at shortstop and led off the batting order for the Nats. He has tallied 12 hits, including three doubles and a home run, drove in three runs and scored six of his own.
