Hidlay Named ACC Wrestler of Week After Another Top-10 Win

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State redshirt-sophomore Hayden Hidlay has been named the co-ACC Wrestler of the Week after his top-10 win at Ohio State this past weekend.

Against the Buckeyes at 157 pounds, Hidlay defeated #8 Ke-Shawn Hayes, 7-2. He scored both of the takedowns in the bout, one in the second period and another in the final seconds.

Hidlay's effort against the Buckeyes came after he went 4-0 at the South Beach Duals at Ft. Lauderdale in late Dec., outscoring his foes 61-16 and notching three bonus-point wins. The latter efforts included two wins by technical fall and one by major decision.

Hidlay is ranked #4 nationally at 157 pounds by both InterMat and FloWrestling.

This is Hidlay's second ACC Wrestler of the Week honor this season, as he was named after his first top-10 win of the season in the opening weekend. Hidlay led the ACC last season, being named the top wrestler three times.

Overall, NC State has won five ACC Wrestler of the Week awards (three by Nick Reenan) in the eight weeks of this season.
