
Pack Set for Ranked Showdown with Tar Heels on Tuesday Night

15th-ranked NC State will host 12th-ranked North Carolina
RALEIGH, NC – The NC State men's basketball team hosts UNC-Chapel Hill in its ACC home-opener Tuesday evening inside PNC Arena.
The game is sold out and will be televised on ESPN with tipoff scheduled for 9 p.m.
NC State fans can listen to Gary Hahn and Tony Haynes call the action on the Wolfpack Sports Network.
Red Out
The game on Tuesday is a Red Out presented by National Coatings and fans are encouraged to wear red to the game.
Pack Tracks
- NC State opened ACC play with an 87-82 win over Miami on Jan. 3. The Pack trailed at halftime for the first time this season and was down 10 points (74-64) with 9:53 to play, but ended the game on a 23-8 run. Markell Johnson scored 17 of his team-best 20 points in the second half. Devon Daniels added 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting and eight rebounds. Wyatt Walker finished one point shy of a double-double with 9 points and 11 rebounds.
- With the win the Pack is off to its best start (13-1) since the 1973-74 NC State team that finished the season 30-1 and won the National Championship.
- NC State outrebounded Miami, 51-29, on Thursday. The +22 rebounding margin was the Pack's biggest margin in an ACC game since outrebounding Florida State by 24 on Feb. 19, 2013.
- The Pack's bench is averaging 35.4 points per game this season and has had 20 individual double-digit scoring performances. The Pack has scored 40+ points off the bench in six games this season, including a school-record 62-point performance in the win over USC Upstate on Dec. 22. Since the 1999-2000 season, seven of the top-17 bench scoring performances for NC State have come under Kevin Keatts coached teams.
- Back in the Associated Press Top-25: The Pack is ranked 15th in the AP poll that was released on Jan. 7. NC State first appeared in the AP Top-25 poll on Dec. 24. It was the program's first appearance in the AP Top-25 since the Jan. 26, 2013 poll.

- The Tar Heels lead the all-time series 156-78 and have a 15-4 advantage in games played inside PNC Arena.
- Last season, the programs split their two meetings. The Pack won at Chapel Hill in overtime, 95-91, while the Tar Heels won in PNC Arena, 96-89.
- Tuesday's meeting is the first time since Feb. 22, 2006 that both the Pack and Tar Heels are ranked when playing each other. No. 21 UNC defeated No. 15 NC State, 95-71, in PNC Arena in that game.

- The Pack has won 12 consecutive games inside PNC Arena. A win on Tuesday would give the Pack its longest winning streak at PNC Arena since NC State won 13 games from Nov. 21, 2003 to Feb 22, 2004.
- A win on Tuesday would give the Pack its first 2-0 start in the ACC since the 2014-15 season.
- A win on Tuesday would give the Pack a regular season victory over North Carolina in back-to-back seasons for the first time since NC State swept the season series in the 2001-02 and split the series in 2002-03.
- Markell Johnson vs. Power-5 Opponents: Tuesday will mark the sixth game this season against a Power-5 opponent for NC State. Junior guard Markell Johnson is averaging 20 points on 63.2% shooting and is averaging 5.2 assists per game in five contests against Power-5 teams this season.
