#9 Wolfpack Cruises Past Eagles and Into Program History

NC State (15-0) achieves best ever unbeaten start to a season

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The ninth-ranked and undefeated NC State women's basketball team (15-0, 2-0 ACC) made history on Sunday afternoon inside the Conte Forum, defeating Boston College 85-69 to record the best undefeated start to a season in the 45-year history of the program.
NC State was led by an outstanding 31-point performance from guard Kiara Leslie. The graduate student shot 13-15 (.867) from the field in the victory, a mark that ranks as the third best single-game shooting percentage in program history. Her accuracy from the field played a large role in NC State's 34-58 (.586) shooting, a mark that ranks as a season high.
Aislinn Konig (16 points, 4-7 3FG), Kai Crutchfield (10 points), and Erika Cassell (10 points) joined Leslie in double figures. As a team, the Wolfpack shot 9-19 (.474) from three-point range and recorded 18 assists against 12 turnovers. Senior DD Rogers and freshman Elissa Cunane each swatted three blocks on an afternoon when the Wolfpack blocked seven total Boston College field goal attempts.
Emma Guy and Makayla Dickens tied for the Eagles' team lead with 17 points each. They were joined in double figures by Marnelle Garraud's 13 points. Dickens led all players with 10 rebounds.
Postgame Notes
-NC State led for 38:30 of the game's 40 minutes and did not trail once.
-Boston College out-rebounded NC State 36-35, becoming just the first team to do so all season.
-Crutchfield, a sophomore for NC State, made her first career start on Sunday.
-NC State leads the series with Boston College 16-8 and has won five straight meetings.
-Konig went 4-7 from beyond the arc, marking the ninth time this season she has made four or more three-pointers. Her consecutive streak of made three-pointers is now up to 48 games.
The Wolfpack got off to a hot start, shooting 8-13 (.615) in the first quarter to take an early 21-7 lead through 10 minutes of play. When Leslie hit a three-pointer to make it 19-7 with 1:24 remaining in the opening period, NC State would not allow Boston College to come within single digits at any point throughout the remainder of the contest.
With NC State leading 41-24 at the halftime break, both sides caught fire in the third quarter. NC State shot 11-15 (.733) and Boston College operated at a clip of 9-13 (.692) during an extremely efficient offensive quarter. The teams combined for 51 points in this 10-minute span, with NC State outscoring Boston College 28-23.
The Wolfpack achieved its largest lead of the game (25 points) on multiple occasions during the third and fourth quarters. The 16-point victory was NC State's 10th win this season of 15 points or more.
NC State returns to action at home on Thursday, Jan. 10 against Pittsburgh. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm from Kay Yow Court inside James T. Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum. The game will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra/WatchESPN.
