Women's Tennis Returns Home with Doubleheader Friday

RALEIGH -- The 14th-ranked NC State women's tennis team will play host to No. 20 Texas Tech at 2p.m. and to Campbell at 7p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1 at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. The Pack is coming off a 4-3 victory over 11th-ranked Florida. For the first time since 2015, the team is 4-0 to start the season.
Pack in the Rankings
The NC State women's tennis team is tabbed at No. 14 in the latest Oracle/ITA Division I Rankings, the highest ranking in program history. The ranking marks the first time the team has been ranked in the poll in the new format. The Pack is 4-0 on the season for the first time since 2015.
In singles, the Pack has two players featured: No. 23 Anna Rogers and No. 111 Alana Smith. Rogers and Smith are also the 20th-ranked doubles duo, along with 37th-ranked Adriana Reami and Amanda Rebol.
NC State was also featured at No. 19 in the Tennis Challenge/USTA College Tennis Top 25 Poll on Wednesday.
Pack Tracks
Five of the Pack have defeated nationally-ranked singles opponents in the 2018-19 season. 23rd-ranked Rogers leads the squad with eight wins, while Bianca Moldovan, Reami, and 111th-ranked Smith have collected two wins. Liz Norman has defeated one ranked opponent this season.
NC State is undefeated against nationally-ranked doubles opponents (6-0). No. 20 Smith and Rogers have tallied five wins this season and No. 37 Reami and Rebol have one.
Last Time Out
The Pack defeated 11th-ranked Florida, 4-3, at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend to earn a bid to the ITA Division I National Team Indoor Championship in Seattle, Wash., for the first time in school history. The win marks only the fourth time in 20 years that the Gators have lost at home. No. 23 Rogers clinched the match for the Pack against No. 29 McCartney Kessler, her eighth nationally-ranked singles win of the season.
Scouting the Opponent
No. 20 Texas Tech (2-0)
The Red Raiders come into Raleigh undefeated, featuring one ranked singles player: No. 52 Felicity Maltby. Maltby and Nell Miller are ranked 38th in doubles competition.
Campbell (1-2)
Under first-year head coach Michelle Dasso, the Camels earned their first win of the season on Jan. 26 at Coastal Carolina. Seven of the nine players on its roster are upperclassmen.
