#8 Wolfpack Stays Perfect in Overtime Thriller

Kiara Leslie and Aislinn Konig combine for 45 points in victory

RALEIGH – In a thrilling overtime game that featured nine lead changes, the eighth-ranked NC State women's basketball team (18-0, 5-0 ACC) remained the lone undefeated NCAA Division I men's or women's basketball squad with a 70-61 win over visiting Virginia Tech Sunday afternoon.
After leading for the vast majority of the second half, the Wolfpack looked up at a 58-57 deficit with 89 seconds remaining in regulation when Alexis Jean scored for the Hokies in the paint. The Wolfpack answered immediately, as senior DD Rogers scored down low to make it 59-58 in favor of NC State with 62 seconds remaining. Virginia Tech stole a Wolfpack inbounds pass and Kiara Leslie fouled Taylor Emery with six seconds left. The Virginia Tech guard sank one free throw and missed the second, knotting the game up at 59 points apiece.
Freshman Elissa Cunane scored the first basket of the overtime period to put the Wolfpack up 61-59. Virginia Tech's Regan Magarity answered with a jumper to tie it up with 2:38 remaining, but this basket would represent the final points allowed by NC State. The Wolfpack ended the game on a 9-0 run to claim the exciting victory.
Kiara Leslie led all players with 25 points on 9-18 shooting. She was joined in double figures by 20 points from junior guard Aislinn Konig. Sophomore guard Kai Crutchfield grabbed a game-high nine rebounds on an afternoon which saw the Wolfpack earn a 42-25 edge on the boards.
Trinity Baptiste led the Hokies with 13 points on 5-8 shooting and went 3-4 from beyond the arc. She was joined in double figures by Emery's 11 points. Virginia Tech was very efficient from distance, connecting on 11 of 24 three-point attempts (.458). The Hokies entered the game ranked 21st nationally in 3FG percentage.

-NC State now leads the series 19-1 and is 9-0 against the Hokies in Raleigh.
-Despite playing five additional overtime minutes, NC State held Virginia Tech nearly 12 points below its season scoring average (72.9).
-NC State led for 29:17 and the Hokies were in front for 12:39.
-The Wolfpack is now 42-4 at home since the renovation to Reynolds Coliseum.
-Konig continued her three-point streak and has now made one or more in 51 straight games. She owns the longest active streak in the nation.
