Wolfpack Concludes Play At Milwaukee Tennis Classic, UVA Masters

RALEIGH – The NC State men's tennis team wrapped up competition at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic and the UVA Masters Saturday. The weekend's action marked the first team tournaments of the fall for the Wolfpack.
Michael Ogden and Collin Shick continued action in the doubles draw at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic after picking up a first-round victory Thursday. The Wolfpack duo cruised to a 6-2 victory over Alabama's Patrick Kaukovalta and Edson Ortiz in the round of 16. The win earned them a spot in the quarterfinal round, where they fell 6-3 to William Howells and Matt Gamble of Notre Dame.
Ogden and Joseph Schrader each picked up singles wins in the back draw Saturday afternoon, with Schrader's being the first victory of his Wolfpack career.
At the UVA Masters in Charlottesville, Va., Igor Saveljic and Ivan Saveljic reached the doubles final, where they matched up against Lukas Grief and Brian Berdusco of Florida. The Gators duo earned the slight edge and took the 7-6 (6) victory.
Igor picked up a singles win over Virginia's Spencer Bozsik, beating the Cavalier by a 6-4, 6-1 score to advance in the back draw. He fell in a three-setter to Kentucky's Theodore McDonald in the next round.
UP NEXT:
The Wolfpack will return to Raleigh to prepare for the ITA All-American Championships, which runs Sept. 29-Oct. 8 in Tulsa, Okla.
