Men's Tennis Finishes Friday Action At UVA Masters, Milwaukee Tennis Classic

RALEIGH – The NC State men's tennis team concluded a busy day of action at two tournaments Friday, as members of the Wolfpack continued play at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic in Wisconsin and Igor Saveljic and Ivan Saveljic began competition at the UVA Masters in Charlottesville, Va.
Igor and Ivan opened play at the UVA Masters with a doubles win. After earning a first-round bye as the draw's top seed, the duo faced Tulane's Hamish Stewart and Tim Ruetzel in the semifinal round, where they cruised to a 6-2 victory.
Ivan also picked up a win in singles, defeating Mississippi State's Florian Broska 6-3, 6-3 in the first round before falling to No. 100 Andy Andrade of Florida in the second round.
Competing in the second day of action at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, Robert Turzak advanced in the singles draw after coming back from a set down to secure the second-round victory over Minnesota's Josip Krstanovic. Krstanovic won the first set 6-4, but Turzak battled through a 7-6 (11) second set to force the match into the final set. Turzak broke Krstanovic's serve twice in the third frame, ultimately taking it by a 6-4 score.
The win advanced him to a match in the round of 16 later in the afternoon, where Turzak was edged by Tennessee's Luca Wiedenmann.
Playing in the singles back draw, Michael Ogden gutted out a 5-7, 7-6, 10-8 victory against Minnesota's Jesse Sprinkel.
SATURDAY'S SCHEDULE:
Igor Saveljic and Ivan Saveljic will resume play at the UVA Masters Saturday morning. Their second day of competition will begin with the doubles final, where the duo will face Florida's Brian Berdusco and Lukas Grief, and they will also see action in the singles back draw.
At the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, the doubles round of 16, which was originally scheduled to be played Friday evening, was postponed. Doubles and consolation singles play will resume Saturday, with all of the finals scheduled to be played Sunday.
