RALEIGH – After an unexpected week away from matches due to the impacts of Hurricane Florence, the NC State men's soccer team (5-1-0) returns to action at home on Friday evening when Virginia Tech visits Raleigh for an exciting Atlantic Coast Conference match. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 pm from Dail Soccer Stadium with live television coverage provided by Fox Sports South/Raycom.

Sophomore goalkeeper Leon Krapf is in the second season of a very strong college career. The German international has played every minute of 24 matches and has recorded 10 shutouts and 58 saves while allowing only 25 goals. His current goals against average (GAA) this season is 0.81. If he were to keep that up for the rest of the year, it would break the previous best season in program history (Christopher Widman's 0.88 in 2009).
BEST RANKING EVER
In the Sept. 4 United Soccer Coaches rankings, the Wolfpack was listed as eighth in the nation. In the available archives of this ranking system (1997-present), this is the highest ranking ever achieved by the NC State men's soccer program during the course of a season.
NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior midfielder Gabriel Machado was named the TopDrawerSoccer National Player of the Week (Sept. 4) and ACC Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 3) after scoring the match-winning goals in wins at No. 2 Akron and vs. Presbyterian.
He scored his third match-winning goal of the season during the Wolfpack's 1-0 win over Quinnipiac on Sept. 11.
BALANCED SCORING AND FIRST CAREER GOALS
NC State's 10 goals this season have come from eight different players. Newcomer Gabriel Machado leads the team with three, all of which are match winners.
QUALITY CHANCES
NC State is leading its opponents in total shots (63-54) this season and holds a significant edge in shots on goal (32-20). The Wolfpack has scored 10 of its 32 shots (.312) on frame so far this year.
