RALEIGH – The NC State men's and women's swimming and diving program announced its 2018-19 schedule, which features a pair of home dual meets to be held in Raleigh in January.
The Wolfpack will kick off the year with its Fourth Annual Wolfpack Games, which is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Willis R. Casey Aquatic Center. In addition to allowing fans the chance to meet the 2018-19 squad, NC State will honor its national champions from the 2017-18 season with ring ceremonies throughout the event.
NC State's regular season begins on Oct. 12 as it travels to Columbia, S.C. to take on the Gamecocks. The Pack will then make the short trip to Durham, N.C. the following weekend for a dual meet at Duke on Oct. 20.
The inaugural ACC/Big Ten Challenge is slated for Nov. 10-11 as select members of the Wolfpack will join swimmers and divers from each ACC program to participate in the interconference meet, which will take place on the campus of Purdue University. In addition to having student-athletes who will be selected for the squad, NC State head coach Braden Holloway will serve as the coach for the ACC men's team.
The following week, the Wolfpack is set to compete at the IU Invitational from Nov. 15-17 in Bloomington, Ind.
The 2018 USA Winter National Championships will be held Nov.28-Dec. 1 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center, as members of the Wolfpack will join the nation's top swimmers to compete in the long-course meters (LCM) competition that will translate to qualifying times for the Olympic trials.
Select NC State divers will get the chance to compete at the USA Diving Winter National Trials, which is set to run from Dec. 17-21 in Atlanta, Ga. The event serves as a way for divers to qualify for the FINA Diving Grand Prix and the 2019 World University Games. In head diving coach Yahya Radman's first season with the Wolfpack, now-alumna Rachel Mumma became the first NC State diver to be selected to the USA Diving National Team after her performance at the national meet, earning a spot on the Team USA roster for the 2015 World University Games.
The Pack divers will then start the 2019 calendar year by heading to Athens, Ga. for the Georgia Diving Invite from Jan. 4-6.
NC State hosts back-to-back ACC meets in January, as it welcomes UNC-Chapel Hill to the Casey Aquatic Center on Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. and hosts Virginia on Jan. 26 at 11 a.m. Admission to both home meets is free.
The Pack will hit the road again for a two-day tri-meet in Austin, Texas against Arizona and Texas on Feb. 1-2 and will then compete in the Carolina College Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. from Feb. 8-10.
The Wolfpack's postseason will begin with the 2019 ACC Swimming & Diving Championship events, which will once again be held in Greensboro, N.C. at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. The women's swimming and men's and women's diving competition will take place Feb. 20-23, with the men's swimming conference meet scheduled the following week from Feb. 27 to March 2.
The Liberty Last Chance Meet is set for March 1-3 in Lynchburg, Va. and will give swimmers and divers a chance to improve on their national seeding in advance of the selections to the NCAA Championships.
The NCAA Zone B Diving Championships will be hosted by Auburn and will run March 11-13, and the season will conclude with the 2019 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, which will be held in Austin, Texas. The women will compete March 20-23 and the men will be in action March 27-30.
