TOKYO– Justin Ress, Hannah Moore and Alexia Zevnik wrapped up competition at the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships, an international meet during which some of the world's best swimmers gathered to compete at the Tatsumi International Swimming Center in Tokyo.
Zevnik picked up a medal at the meet, winning bronze as a part of Canada's 4x100-meter freestyle relay squad. Swimming the anchor leg, Zevnik touched the wall to secure a final time of 3:34.07 and help earn a podium finish for Swimming Canada.
Zevnik also raced in two individual events: the 50-meter freestyle and the 100-meter freestyle. She was one of the top four Canadian finishers in the 100-meter freestyle, clocking in at 54.93 in the preliminaries to advance to competition in the B final, where she went on to place eighth in 55.45.
Ress represented the United States and competed in the 100-meter backstroke, finishing in a tie for fourth during preliminaries with a time of 53.69. As the third-highest American finisher across the heats, he qualified for the B final in the event, where he notched a time of 53.59 to place second.
Also competing for USA Swimming, Moore swam the 10-kilometer open water event. She placed fifth overall and was the third-highest American finisher with a time of 2:08.33.5.
The results of the Pan Pacific Championships will set the tone for national team outlooks as the FINA World Championships, the Pan American Games and the World University Games all approach in 2019.
USA Swimming will announce its national team roster for the 2018-19 season on Aug. 31.
