RALEIGH – NC State head softball coach Jennifer Patrick-Swift recently added a pair of transfers to the program, as Miranda "Randi" Farricker and Brigette Nordberg have signed financial aid agreements to join the Wolfpack this fall. Farricker will have three years of eligibility and Nordberg will have two.
"Our staff is excited to add Brigette and Randi to the program this fall. Both of them bring a wealth of experience to our team," said Patrick-Swift.
"Brigette brings in over 90 games of experience the past two seasons to Raleigh. In coaching against her while she was at Maryland we know firsthand what she'll bring to the table. She is eager to get involved in our offensive style.
"Randi showed power in the box as a freshman but was out last season due to an injury. She brings the experience of being in a program that is a consistent powerhouse and one that was at the Women's College World Series last year."
Farricker comes to Raleigh from Arizona State and is a Glendora, Calif., native. As a freshman she made 38 game appearances, including 24 starts in the infield. She batted .208 with 15 hits and 13 RBI, and led all freshmen on the squad in both categories. She missed the 2018 season due to injury.
"NC State offers excellent academic opportunities within my chosen major of animal science, and Coach Patrick-Swift's philosophy is everything I was looking for when I decided to transfer schools," said Farricker. "I look forward to experiencing the seasons on the beautiful campus, and especially seeing the leaves change in the fall. It's so exciting to join the Wolfpack on this new journey!"
Prior to ASU Farricker was rated the No. 94 player on FloSoftball's 2016 'Hot 100' list and finished her career with a .507 batting average and .601 on-base percentage. She also helped her Corona Angels club squad win the 2015 PFG Fall Shootout and finish fifth at the PFG National Championships in the 18U Division.
Nordberg hails from Exton, Pa., and spent her first two seasons at Maryland. She turned in a strong sophomore season with the Terrapins this spring as she finished second on the team with a .272 batting average and started all 54 games. Nordberg turned in a team-best 14 doubles and also finished second in slugging percentage (.402), runs scored (20), hits (46) and total bases (68). She additionally ranked third on the team in RBI (20) while turning in 12 multi-hit games as well as five multi-RBI performances.
"The reason I chose NC State to finish my career is because of the beautiful campus and the coaching staff," said Nordberg. "Playing against Coach Patrick-Swift and Coach Swift a lot last year, I witnessed a large portion of their coaching style on the field and am really looking forward to playing for them. I'm also looking forward to playing with new teammates and being apart of the Wolfpack family.
"Everything happens for a reason, and because of that, NC State is the place that I'm meant to finish my career at."
As a freshman Nordberg made 37 game appearances, including 18 starts, and turned in a .263 clip with 15 hits, four RBI and three runs. In high school she was a three-time All-Chesmont League selection and Second Team All-State selection in 2015. Nordberg also helped her travel team, PA Chaos, finish fifth at ASA Nationals and second at the Boulder IDT Tournament.
