Â
RALEIGH – NC State women's basketball athletic trainer Casi Dailey has been selected to join the USA Basketball Women's U18 National Team for the 2018 FIBA Americas Championship to be played August 1-7 in Mexico City.
Â
The team travels to Colorado Springs, Colo., on July 20 to begin training camp for the event and departs for the competition on July 29. At the competition, the U.S. will participate in Group A against Argentina, Chile, and Puerto Rico. After the conclusion of preliminary round play, teams will be seeded for the Aug. 5 quarterfinals. The semifinals will be played on Aug. 6 and the finals on Aug. 7.
Â
USA women's teams boast a remarkable 53-2 overall record in U18/Junior qualifiers and have won gold in 1988, 2000, 04, 06, 08, 10, 12, 14, and 16.
Â
"I'm really excited," Dailey said. "It's a huge honor that my peers would recommend me for such a prestigious position. Representing the United States of America while doing something that I love that involves my career, it's just really special and I'm very excited for it."
Â
Dailey joining USA Basketball for this summer tournament marks NC State's second recent connection with the organization, as Wolfpack head coach Wes Moore was appointed to the USA Basketball Junior National Team Committee back in April of 2017.
Â
Dailey joined the NC State Sports Medicine staff in July of 2012. She works primarily with the Wolfpack women's basketball and softball teams. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree from Hope College in Holland, Mich., and became a certified athletic trainer in 2008. She then attended the University of Tennessee where she received a Master of Science in Sport Management.
