Raleigh, N.C. - Christian Salzer and Harrison Rhoades both captured Amateur Golf Titles on Sunday.
Salzer won the 46th South Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship, while Rhoades won the 58th North Carolina Amateur Championship.
Salzer defeated Logan Sowell 3-and-2 Sunday to win the championship held at The Furman University Golf Club in Greenville, S.C. The NC State junior found himself two down through five holes in the championship match, but rallied back to square the match with a birdie on 9. Salzer then went on to birdie holes 10 and 11 to take a 2-up lead. The two players would halve hole 12, trade holes 13 & 14, and after halving hole 15, Salzer was 2 up standing on the sixteenth tee. Both players wound up short of the green on the par-3 sixteenth. After Sowell failed to convert his up-and-down attempt, Salzer's patience finally paid off when he drained a 4-footer to win his second CGA championship.

Rhoades dominated all four days of the North Carolina Amateur Championship held at the River Landing River Course in Wallace, N.C., posting a 19-under-par, 269. The score ties the tournament record for fewest strokes and his winning margin of 13 strokes set a new record for the championship.
Â
The leader after every round in the tournament, Rhoades opened the tournament with an eight-under par 64 and followed that up on Friday with a five-under par 67. After an even-par 72 on Saturday, Rhoades closed the championship with a six-under 66 on Sunday to finish at 19-under par. Â
