
Shipp Leads Pack Through Two Rounds of NCAA Championship

STILLWATER, OKLA. – The NC State men's golf team shot a second round score of 303 Saturday at the NCAA Championship held at Karsten Creek.
The Pack sits in a tie for 25th place with one round left before cutting the field to 15 teams.
Nolan Mills Jr., led the Pack on Saturday with a three-over par 75. The Charlotte native had a team-best four birdies on the day.
Stephen Franken, Justin Hood and Benjamin Shipp all shot four-over par 76 in the second round, while Easton Paxton rounded out the Pack lineup with a six-over par 78.
Shipp is the highest NC State player on the individual leaderboard with a two-round score of two-over par to sit in 44th place. Franken is in a tie for 97th place, while Paxton is in a tie for 129th place and Hood is in 132nd place.
NC State is scheduled to begin the second round Sunday at 12:55 p.m. CT.
The NCAA Championship consists of three days of stroke play on Friday thru Sunday (54 holes), after which the top 15 teams and nine individuals not on an advancing team will be determined. That is followed by a final day of 18 holes of stroke play (Monday) to determine the top eight teams that will advance to match play as well as the 72-hole individual champion. The team national champion will be determined by a match-play format that will consist of quarterfinals and semifinals conducted on Tuesday, followed by the finals on Wednesday.
