RALEIGH – After earning selection to the NCAA Championships for the third-straight year, the #36 NC State women's tennis team will take on #25 Baylor in the opening round Friday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
The Wolfpack will meet the Bears for the third time in program history and for the first time in 26 years with the winner moving on to face either #14 UCLA or Fresno State in the second round on Mar. 12 at 6 p.m. (ET).
From the Coach
"At this stage of the season it's really about us emphasizing what we do well and what we can control, then getting out there tomorrow and making a point of it being our best effort in that regard this spring," said head coach Simon Earnshaw. "We've come a long with this group of players, this is a much better and more confident team than the one we put out on the court in January / February. The past several weeks I'd say collectively as a group everyone has done a much better job understanding what makes this work and how they can contribute to that. We're playing well, prepared and ready, and that's all you can ask. It's why we play the season to put ourselves in this moment, this is the focus and here we are. Collectively we now have experience to draw on from previous years and hopefully we can make that be a factor. Go Pack!"
