Three Earn All-ACC Honors On Opening Day Of ACC Outdoor Championships

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Wolfpack distance runners Erika Kemp and Elijah Moskowitz and Wolfpack thrower Joshua Davis led the way for the NC State track and field team, garnering All-ACC honors on the first day of the 2018 ACC Outdoor Championships at Cobb Stadium on the campus of the University of Miami.Â
Kemp won a bronze medal in the 10,000m for the Wolfpack's only top-three finish. She crossed the finish line in 33:55.38 for the fifth podium finish and the seventh all-conference honors of her track and field career.

Moskowitz placed just off of the podium in the men's 10,000m, clocking in at 30:06.33 for a fourth-place finish. He earned a spot on the Second Team All-ACC, the first all-conference honors of his Wolfpack career.Â
Davis earned All-ACCÂ honors for the third season in a row in the hammer throw, an event in which he owns the school record. The Wolfpack senior's best attempt was marked at 201' 1" (61.29m) for fourth place, tying for Davis' best finish at the ACC Outdoor Championships. Â

SPRINTS:
Gabriele Cunningham, the 200m school record holder, clocked a season-best 23.30 in the prelims of the event. Her time was the fastest in her heat and second-fastest overall and booked her spot in the final, which will take place Saturday evening.
The Wolfpack also saw two advance out of the prelims on the men's side of the 200m. Dylan Peebles won his heat with a time of 20.96 to earn the automatic qualifying spot. Shannon Patterson impressed with a 20.85 PR, the third-fastest time in the prelims, to join Peebles in Saturday's final.Â
MID-DISTANCE:
In her ACC Outdoor Championships debut, freshman Anna Vess advanced out of the 1,500m prelims and qualified to run in Saturday's final. Vess crossed the finish line in 4:23.16, a personal best.Â
Philip Hall also qualified by time in the 1,500m. He ran a 3:46.56 to lock up his spot in the final.
JUMPS:
In the high jump, JaTory Reid tallied a season-best 6' 9.5" (2.07m) mark that placed just outside of scoring range at ninth, and Ashley Ho registered a 5' 2.5" (1.59m) jump in her first outdoor conference meet.
DECATHLON:
Grant Rivers competed in the first five events of the decathlon Thursday afternoon. Rivers' best finish of the day came in the high jump, where he placed third with a 6' 4.25" (1.94m) jump. The senior will finish out the decathlon starting at 11 a.m. Friday.Â
UP NEXT:Â
NC State will be back in action at the ACC Outdoor Championships Friday. The Wolfpack's day will begin at 11 a.m., and Friday's evening events will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra beginning at 5:30 p.m.Â
