EAGL Champion Wolfpack Slated to Compete at NCAA Regional Championship

NC State hosts regional for first time since 2012, competes for first time since 2015

RALEIGH – The #20 NC State gymnastics team will look to build off the momentum from the Wolfpack's first EAGL Championship since 2013 when the team hosts and competes at the NCAA Regional Championship Saturday inside Reynolds Coliseum.
Hosting the NCAA Regional for the first time since 2012 and competing for the first time since 2015 NC State welcomes LSU, Nebraska, Oregon State, George Washington and Maryland to Reynolds Coliseum.

"We are thrilled to compete among some of the best team's in the nation on Saturday," said head coach Kim Landrus. "To host an NCAA Regional competition is truly a special opportunity. These women are excited to be one of six universities to represent their school in their home venue. This team has worked hard from day one. They have prepared and trusted the process to get to this moment. Now, it's time for them to go out and do 'us' as we continue on our journey.

Conference Champions for First Time Since 2013
The Wolfpack earned the title of EAGL Champion for the first time since 2013 after posting a score of 196.625 at the EAGL Championships inside SECU Arena at Towson on Mar. 24.
Chelsea Knight won the all-around title with a score of 39.425 while Drew Grantham tied for a share of the vault title with a 9.900. The Pack had eight gymnasts named to the All-Tournament Team:

Wolfpack Earns Most All-EAGL Honors Since 2012
The NC State gymnastics team had seven gymnasts combine for 17 All-EAGL honors, marking the first time since the first time since 2012 it achieved that many.

Alexa Phillips – First Team All-EAGL (Vault, Floor)

Last Time at the Regional Championships
NC State most recently competed at the Regional Championships as a team in 2015; the team placed fifth with a score of 195.775 in Norman, Oklahoma. Oklahoma placed first followed by Oregon State, Southern Utah, Missouri while Penn State finished sixth. Brittni Watkins and Michaela Woodford advanced to the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships in all-around competition.
Current members of the Pack Chelsea Knight, Mackenzie Itcush and Nicole Wild competed at the meet; Knight on vault, Wild on floor and bars and Itcush on vault and floor.
Last Time Hosting the Regional Championships
Most recently hosting a Regional Championship in 2012, the Pack finished third behind Florida and Ohio State after posting a score of 195.975. Penn State took fourth, UNC-Chapel fifth and Kent State sixth.
Rachel Fincham claimed the title on bars with a 9.900 to advance to the National Championships in Duluth, Georgia.
