#38 Women's Tennis Falls to #3 Duke in ACC Championship Quarterfinal

RALEIGH – Despite pushing the Blue Devils to three sets in four singles matches, the #38 NC State women's tennis team fell 5-0 against #3 Duke in the quarterfinals of the ACC Championships Friday at the Cary Tennis Park.
The loss moves the Wolfpack to a record of 17-14 (7-7) overall on the year while the Blue Devils move to 22-2 (13-1) and advance to the semifinals of the ACC Championships.

Doubles
The Pack dropped the doubles point to the Blue Devils as Adriana Reami and Amanda Rebol fell 6-1 to #5 Samantha Harris and Kelly Chen at the No. 2 position while at No. 1 #26 Claudia Wiktorin and Anna Rogers pushed #12 Kaitlyn McCarthy and Ellyse Hamlin to a tiebreak, losing 7-6 (9-7).
Singles
Four of the Wolfpack's singles matches ended up going to three-sets as the Pack was involved in several close contests. At the No. 2 position #103 Adriana Reami battled back after losing the opening set but dropped a tough final set to fall 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. Bianca Moldovan took #118 Ellyse Hamlin to a hard-fought tiebreak in the first set but suffered a 7-6, 7-5 setback. At the No. 6 position Tayla Stenta started strong but also fell in a gutsy performance to Hannah Zhao, 1-6, 6-2, 6-1.
