Shurbutt brought Garner home from third after she reached on an error and advanced to third on a fielder's choice and error. Rizzi then scored Compton from third after she reached on the fielder's choice, advanced to second on the error then moved to third on the first RBI single.
-The Heels scored its first run of the game in the bottom frame. After a pair of singles to right field and sacrifice bunt put runners at the corners, a double steal allowed the run to cross home plate.
-In the fourth the Pack extended its lead to five. Lily Bishop led off the inning with a home run to left center. Jade Caraway followed with a single to center field and advanced to second on Haylee Kobziak's sacrifice bunt, then Compton's single to left field brought her home.
-NC State extended its lead to nine in the sixth inning, scoring four runs on five hits and an error. Shurbutt brought in two runs with the bases loaded on a single to center field, while Rizzi and Lily Bishop each tallied RBI singles.
-The Heels tried to rally in the sixth with a single through the left side and one-out bunt single, but a pair of fly outs ended the game.
