Raleigh Relays Day One Results
RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State track and field team posted a solid start to the outdoor season as it completed its first day of competition at the 2018 Raleigh Relays.
The Wolfpack put together a set of strong marks to open the season, with many athletes setting times that qualified them for competition at the ACC Outdoor Championships. NC State also saw select track competitors in the 5,000m and the 100m post marks that sit at the top of the national standings.
HURDLES/SPRINTS:
Gabriele Cunningham began NC State's day on the track in the 100m hurdles. The Wolfpack junior ran a 13.83 in the event to take first place, beating out the second-place finisher by two-tenths of a second with a time that already qualified her for conference postseason competition.

Shannon Patterson opened his outdoor campaign with a statement performance, clocking a 10.31 in the 100m on his way to placing second. The mark, a new PR, ties him for fifth in program history and also carries bigger implications, as it currently stands fifth in the region and eighth in the nation.

Dylan Peebles added a sixth-place finish in 10.63 to established a new PR and lock up an ACC qualifying mark.
Finishing out the sprints, Tiana Patillo took silver with a 55.30 in the 400m. Her race Friday afternoon gave her the seventh-best 400m time in program history.
Abdur Rahmaan Kelly was NC State's top finisher on the men's side of the 400m, placing fifth after running a personal-best of 48.07.
DISTANCE:
The Wolfpack distance runners continued where they left off and impressed in their outdoor debuts.
Elly Henes once again wrote herself into the NC State history books, taking over the program's fourth-best outdoor 5,000m mark with her silver medal race. She ran a 15:49.51, which sits in the top five of both the regional and national standings.
Dominique Clairmonte joined her with a successful 5,000m outing of her own. She posted a time of 15:55.73 that is among the best regional and national times, and she moved into 10th in program history in the event.
Joe Bistritz (14:12.10) and Patrick Sheehan (14:13.91) both qualified for ACC Outdoors in the men's 5,000m after their personal-best races.
Erika Kemp moved up to third on the program's list of 1,500m times with a PR of 4:17.93. She placed fifth in a field of strong competitors.
Elijah Moskowitz capped off the evening for the NC State distance runners in the men's 10,000m. He ran a 29:23.09 to hold his spot as the owner of NC State's all-time ninth-best mark.
JUMPS:
Competing in the women's long jump, Lauren White placed third. White's career-best 19' 4" (5.89m) jump ties for fifth in school history.
JaTory Reid also finished on the podium in the high jump. He set an ACC qualifying mark of 6' 8.75" (2.05m), which was good for second place.

In the high jump invite, Christopher Garrick posted an ACC qualifying mark with the Pack's best jump of the day of 6' 10.75" (2.10m) in the invite.
THROWS:
Tyson Fortenberry advanced out of the field of 32 in the shot put to the final round. His 53' 0" (16.15m) throw in the finals was a PR, and he took fourth. Fortenberry also set a PR of 152' 6" (49.49m) in the discus.
UP NEXT:
The Wolfpack returns to action Saturday to wrap up the Raleigh Relays. The meet is set to resume at 9:45 a.m. with the women's hammer throw.
