#22 Gymnastics to Compete at EAGL Championships

RALEIGH – The #22 NC State gymnastics team will look to capitalize on its successful regular season when it takes part in the EAGL Championships Saturday inside SECU Arena.
From the Coach
"Postseason is something we have been looking forward to for quite some time," said head coach Kim Landrus. "At the very beginning of the year, we talked about how everything we did up until this point was preparation for postseason. So for this weekend to finally be here is exciting! The girls are anxious to get out on the floor on Saturday and represent the Pack with pride and passion."
Last Time Out for NC State
Competing against Towson, West Virginia, William & Mary and Cornell the #23 NC State gymnastics team posted its third-highest score of the season, 196.550, Sunday inside SECU Arena.
Along with earning its third-highest score of the season the Pack collected 10 top-five finishes and saw five individual career-highs tied.
Pack in the Rankings
After the 11th and final week of the regular season, the Wolfpack is ranked #22 in the nation and #2 in the EAGL. NC State is inside the top 25 on three events; the Pack is ranked #18 on vault with a 49.105 RQS, #19 on beam with a 49.140 RQS and #22 on floor with a 49.240 RQS. NC State also has a 49.025 RQS on bars to be ranked #32.
Kent Named Co-Rookie of the Week
Lauren Kent was honored as EAGL Co-Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday. She shared the award with Haley Brechwald of Pitt.
In the Pack's meet at Towson with West Virginia, William & Mary and Cornell, Kent tied for fourth on bars with a score of 9.850 and tied for sixth on beam as she also earned a score of 9.850. Both scores tied her career-highs.
Wolfpack Collects 17 All-EAGL Honors
Several Wolfpack gymnasts earned yearly awards Monday; the 17 honorees were the most since 2012.
Chelsea Knight – First Team All-EAGL (Vault, Bars, Beam, Floor, All-Around)
Alexa Phillips – First Team All-EAGL (Vault, Floor)
Drew Grantham - First Team All-EAGL (Beam, Floor, All-Around) Second Team All-EAGL (Vault)
Caitlyn Fillard – First Team All-EAGL (All-Around) Second Team All-EAGL (Bars)
Maggie Tamburro – First Team All-EAGL (Bars)
Lauren Kent – Second Team All EAGL (Beam, Bars)
Mackenzie Itcush – Second Team All-EAGL (Floor)
Last Time at the EAGL Championships
At the 2017 EAGL Championships the Pack earned a score of 194.875 and a third-place finish. The team's finish tied its highest since the 2012 squad finished second. Individually, Paris Phillips scored a 9.900 to become NC State's 12th EAGL Floor Champion in program history.
Scouting the Competition
George Washington ended the regular season ranked #1 in the EAGL with an RQS of 196.460 while Pitt were #3 with a 195.825 RQS. New Hampshire was #4 with an RQS of 195.725, UNC-CH was #5 with a 195.515 RQS and Towson finished with a ranking of #6 with a 195.120.
NCAA Regional
