No. 23 NC State Falls At No. 20 Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 23 NC State men's tennis team dropped its first road match of the 2018 season, falling to No. 20 Florida State 4-0 at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center Friday evening.
With the loss, the Wolfpack falls to 11-4 on the season and 1-3 in the ACC, while the Seminoles improve to 20-1 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference play.
The tightly-contested doubles point went to the Seminoles. Florida State's Jose Gracia and Alex Knaff struck first, defeating Igor Saveljic and Ivan Saveljic by a 6-2 score.
Georgiy Malyshev and Tadas Babelis evened things up when they defeated No. 69 Terrell Whitehurst and Terrance Whitehurst on court three. The Wolfpack duo broke Florida State's serve to go up 4-3, and Babelis held serve in the final game to give the pair their first win over a ranked opponent this season.

The doubles decision came down to court one, where No. 60 Aziz Dougaz and Guy Iradukunda of Florida State narrowly defeated 63rd-ranked Alexis Galarneau and Michael Ogden 6-4.
The Seminoles added to their lead as No. 61 Lucas Poullain beat Babelis 6-1, 6-3 on court three.
Playing on court five, Knaff topped Malyshev 6-2, 6-2 to put Florida State a match away from the victory.
76th-ranked Dougaz clinched on court one, taking down No. 24 Galarneau 7-5, 6-2, and play on the remaining three courts was halted.
UP NEXT:
NC State will remain in the state of Florida as it travels to Coral Gables for a match at Miami Sunday afternoon. First serve against the Hurricanes is scheduled for 12 p.m. from the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
