Wolfpack Off To Fast Starts At Iowa State, Clemson

The NC State track and field team opened up its second to last weekend of competition before the ACC Indoor Championships at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa and the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C.

In addition to improving on qualifying times, Philip Hall (3000m) and J Johnson (60m) posted performances that add them to the list of Wolfpack athletes who have qualified to compete at the conference meet. Â

The NC State sprinters kicked off the day for the Wolfpack at the Tiger Paw Invitational.

Cravont Charleston saw success in the 60m dash, clocking in for a fourth-place finish. The Wolfpack sophomore, who had already qualified for the ACC Indoor Championships in the event, advanced to the final and improved on his time, finishing his outing with a new PR of 6.65.

J Johnson competed in the 60m dash for the first time in his NC State career and posted an ACC Indoor Championships qualifying mark in the semifinals with a time of 6.74
Â
Gabriele Cunningham led the way for the Wolfpack women. She continued to better her times with PRs in both the 60m dash (7.31) and the 60m hurdles (8.05). Her hurdles mark was an improvement of .13 seconds.

IOWA STATE CLASSIC:
Four of the Wolfpack's distance runners traveled to Ames, Iowa, representing NC State in the men's and women's 3000m races.
Â
Philip Hall's time of 8:09.27 made him the third member of the Wolfpack men's distance squad to qualify for ACC Indoors in the 3000m.
Â
Elly Henes continued her strong 3000m performance, taking second place. Her time of 9:07.93 is good for the second-fastest recorded in the ACC behind her own adjusted time of 9:07.26 from last weekend's outing at the Camel City Invitational.
