Quoting the Head Coach Braden Holloway
On Coleman Stewart's performance today
"Coleman was a stud today," said Holloway. "He's been like that all year, from day one until now he's been on it. He's been focused and it's been great to see hard work pay off for him. I'll be honest, I'm pretty darn impressed with his backstroke tonight and I think his success has led to others having success; he's a great team player, a great training partner for a lot of these guys. Really impressed with him."
On Anton Ipsen's 400 IM
"We knew he could come back pretty well but we thought that the lead was too big and we weren't quite sure he could pull it off," said Holloway. "Once he made some good headway on the first 50 the adrenaline took over him, he trusted his training and knew he's done the work to come home and he did. That really brought Eric Knowles along; he had a really good time for a freshman. That heat was a lot of positive energy for us."
On winning the 400 medley relay for the first time since 2012
"My first year here we won it and we hadn't won it since," said Holloway. "We decided to switch it up this year and get that relay title back."
Overall thoughts
"I'm proud of our guys, we had a lot of crazy big swims today. We had a lot of guys do some really hard doubles. We had a bunch of guys do the 100 fly-100 back double; Noah Hensley did it really well, obviously Coleman and James Bretscher. We had a freshman do the 200 free-100 back double which is insane. He handled it and scored two 'B' finals out of it. Hats off to JJ but overall, our team did a good job today. Our energy was good tonight and tomorrows a brand new day."
Up Next:
The Wolfpack will wrap up the 2018 ACC championships tomorrow with a full day of events. The day will begin with the 200 back, followed by the 100 free, 200 breast and 200 fly. The preliminary heats of the 1650 are set to begin at 4 p.m., with the championship heat kicking off finals at 6 p.m.
